About POV:This is a website for vermont photography, videos, and writing. There’s one post a day at midnight with a photo or video, a title, and some amount of text. Videos are once a week on sunday for now.
When I say vermont, I mean that submissions are open to anyone who makes something within the statelines of vermont. I attend the university of vermont and expect the majority to come from UVM students, but I’m open minded.
The point, I should mention, is for this to scratch a number of itches. First and foremost, the itch of the artists out there who don’t have a platform. Then, I suppose, for people who are itching to know what vermont looks like, or what the vermont experience is. Something bullshit like that. And I hope it’s about developing a little community for people who like to make things, and for people who like to look at things that other people made and tell them it’s pretty or how to do better. Things like that. It’s not about profit (I’m not making money on it, and I’m not paying you to submit) but it can be about making a name for yourself.
If you’re thinking about submitting, please do. If you don’t want to, maybe comment a little, especially on posts that aren’t by me because I think people like encouragement.
How to submit:Send an e-mail to max@pixelsonvermont.com
Make sure to include:
- Title
- If a photo, just attach it in the email. Try to make it a high resolution jpg.
- If a video, upload it to youtube or vimeo and just send me the link.
- Story/Description
- How you want to be credited
Regarding the story part… it really can be anything. It can just be a thought or two. It can be a poem. A short story. A short true story. It can be describing the technical work that went into creating the shot. Whatever.
If you don’t want to do the writing part, ask a friend to do it for you. You must have a friend who likes to write. Show them your photo and say “write something” and they probably will.
If you’re reticent to submit because you want to maintain your copyright of your work, please read this post and chime in with a comment.
About me:I’m Max Jacobson. I’m a junior at UVM. I study Psychology and English. Let me know if you have any ideas on how to make this site funner.
